Mon intérêt pour le motif remonte à mon adolescence. Sensible à l’architecture et ayant toujours vécu en région parisienne, j’aimais observer les façades des immeubles haussmanniens, en particulier le calepinage des pierres de taille et le travail en fer forgé des garde-corps. Après les avoir redessinés, puis réinventés, j’ai commencé à produire des motifs personnels. Cela s’est transformé en un véritable passe-temps, cherchant toujours à créer des compositions épurées et harmonieuses. Ma curiosité naturelle m’a ainsi conduite à découvrir le travail de différents artistes travaillant sur le motif, comme celui de Nathalie du Pasquier. Ses nombreux dessins produits dans les années 80 constituent pour moi un exemple dans leur élaboration.
My interest in the pattern goes back to my adolescence. Sensitive to architecture and having always lived in the Paris area, I liked to observe the facades of Haussmann buildings, in particular the layout of the ashlars and the wrought iron work of the railings. After redrawing and reinventing them, I started to produce my own patterns. This turned into a real hobby, always trying to create clean and harmonious compositions. My natural curiosity led me to discover the work of various artists working on the pattern, such as Nathalie du Pasquier. Her numerous drawings produced in the 80’s are for me an example in their elaboration.
